Abstract
The difference between electricity generated and consumed is made up of losses in the transmission and distribution (T&D) system. Nationally, T&D electricity losses have been estimated by DOE to average about 7% of the electricity that is transmitted in the United States. There are many ways to reduce these losses and this webinar will provide a high-level overview of the options available for reducing T&D losses with a focus on the distribution system and how savings can be documented for two options that are gaining more attention - Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) and Voltage and Volt-ampere reactive (VAR) Optimization (VVO). Our speakers will provide an overview of opportunities and challenges in distribution system efficiency, explanation of CVR and VVO, a case study, and methods that can be used to determine the electricity savings from CVR and VVO. Following presentations, speakers will answer questions from the audience.
